Hassle-free home charging.

Try to think of an electric vehicle battery as a smartphone battery, but one that’s significantly larger. You can charge your car battery in the same way you charge your phone: by plugging it in. The only downside: because it’s so large, a car battery takes much longer to fully charge. Connecting it overnight to a standard 2.3 kW household socket will only partially charge it, and provide a driving range of between 24 and 64 kilometers, (depending on battery size). But as you typically only drive around 60 km a day, this is perfectly adequate. And for longer trips there’s an extensive network of public charging points. <Link to public charging>.

Standard home charging.

You can recharge your vehicle easily using a standard home electric socket. Up to three times faster charging can be achieved using an optional alternating current home charging station – also known as an AC Wall-box (4.6. kW.)

For improved charging at low cost, there’s the option of a reinforced Legrand® Green

Up™ socket. This enables faster current flow than a standard socket.

AC Wallbox home charging.

The fastest and most convenient charging option is an AC Wallbox charging station. This gets the job done up to three times faster than a standard socket.

The Wallbox can be fitted to your home or work, and to stand-alone buildings or apartment blocks, as long as local planning permission’s been granted. According to the European directive, you have the right to install a private charging solution, so getting planning permission should be relatively straightforward.

Your local Opel dealer will suggest a charging package that’s best for you, depending on your usage, your battery type and your vehicle’s range.

We provide all-inclusive packages that include:

  • A home survey prior to installation of the AC Wallbox
  • The AC Wallbox device with all the necessary cables and accessories
  • Installation and setup of the AC Wallbox by a qualified professional

Three packages are available:

  • Full package +: home survey, AC Wallbox delivery, installation and setup
  • Full package: home survey and AC Wallbox delivery to your residence or place of work
